1. Alice

From the recording Alice

Alice came by late one evening,
Alice stayed so late that night,
And tells me she needs someone to listen,
And I tell her that things will be all right

Traveling, she never wants to settle,
Tired, she doesn’t want to rest
Hoping she waits for my approval,
Well, I can only say for me what’s best

Still I feel in the early morning
She has more to say than she let’s on
& everyday I see that she moves a little closer
Trusting in the eyes of someone new

Good times, Alice is a partner,
Bad times Alice will not stay,
Learning she knows enough to listen,
And reads more than the lines upon each page

No one has to wait for Alice,
She’s ready and waiting next in line
Changing the wind blows free for Alice,
She moves on and comes another time
